Alex is a ceramic artist based in New York. She makes wares, sculpture, and glaze paintings. She comes to glaze from a background in painting, and her process is built around testing combinations, layering color, and placing crystals to create imagery. Glaze is unpredictable, and much of her work is about learning to anticipate it. She taught ceramics for a year, including starting a program at a school on Chicago's South Side, before returning her focus to her own studio practice. She begins her MFA in Studio Art at Brooklyn College this fall.
